Reach Out & Read
CHAS is proud to take part in Reach Out & Read Washington! We believe it is vital for children to start reading at a young age, and we hope to help them become more successful during their school years through early literacy. Our own pediatricians, Dr. Daniel Moorman, and Dr. Roberta Knorr are two of about a dozen physicians in the Spokane area who take part in Reach Out & Read.
If you bring your young child in for a well-child visit with Dr. Moorman or Dr. Knorr, they will read your son or daughter a book, and you get to take the book home so they can read it again and again!

A message from Dr. Daniel Moorman!
Reach Out & Read is a program that helps us provide new books to kids at all of their well child visits from the time they are 6 months old until 5 years of age when they would be entering school. This program has shown that children who are read to on a regular basis have a stronger foundation of reading skills and have larger vocabularies (nearly double the size) than children who are not read to regularly. This shows us how important it is to do our best here at CHAS to help build that healthy parent-child bond and to help parents get their children all the advantages they can for their own health and well-being as they grow. All children deserve the best we can give them and here at CHAS the Reach Out & Read program is just one way we are trying to reach out to our community and families to give kids the best possible futures.
